* I put some treats on it and she just batted the treats off and ate em.Cat isn't playing on new House?
Just give her some time and she'll come around. You might try sprinkling it with catnip to entice her. She may also be more interested if it's located near a window so she can look out. My cats seem to go in phases with their cat trees. They'll be all about them for a couple of weeks, then leave them alone for awhile. Sometimes it just takes them a little while to warm up to something new.Cat isn't playing on new House?
When I got a piece of cat furniture, the salesman at the pet store told me to put a little bit catnip over it to attract the cat, otherwise, cat may be afraid to come to it. It worked for me and broke the ice. Also, maybe you can try playing with her in that house, like with the feathery catcher toys to entice her to come in and try it. It may be quite big and she might be a bit afraid - after she gets familiar with it, you should have no problem. However, never force her to go inside or this may reinforce her fears.
You might want to take cat nip and rub it all over the house, leaving some paticals actually on the house, see if that helps, It did with my two cats, when I would bring in a new perch, bed or what ever, they never like the strange smell! So, I would rub the item down with drieded cat nip or fresh cat nip out of the garden and they would take right to the item. Cats are very particular when it comes to smells.....everything has to smell familiar, or they will avoid it until they get comfortable around item, then they will rub their sent glands on it to make it thiers!
Doing the treats was a good idea, but a better one would be to rub it in catnip because that way, she can't bat it off. You can buy this in most pet stores. She will really want to go and play on it if you do. When she jumps on and gets interested, play a game with her. If there is a small tunnel, dangle a toy through one end and she will be sure to play. Set her on the hammock and rock it GENTLY. She will probably like it. Put her on a perch and give her a treat or watch her sniff the catnip. I think when she realizes all the great things the House has in store, she will play in it all the time. Does it have a scratching post built in? If so, here's a really fun game you can play with her that I used to play with my kitten. Hold her favorite toy or treat a few inches above the very top of the scratching post. She probably will dig her claws in and pull her way up. My cat used to drag herself up, sit on the top and leap for the toy, then land right on the top again! It was fun for him and entertainment for us. If your cat doesn't want to play this game, try again another time. Just make sure you get involved when she is up there and that way she won't get bored. I have seen some cats even sleeping on those things!!
Hope this helps and Good luck!
get some good grade cat nip and rub the house down with it, it's still new and she is wondering what has invaded her home!
It took my cat almost 3 months to get in her condo! And it was after someone told me to rub it down with Sojo's catnip that she decided she loved it.
She will in time. Try tying some string toys to the posts where its sticking out.
Take it back and get your money back for it.
Let her get used to it.
