That depends on whether you are wanting a stick built home or a manufactured/modular home. The latter, yes you could probably find one in that price range. The stick built home......I doubt it.
It's hard to find a new home in Cali. for that price. I live in St. Louis, but my dad lives there. A new home in a pretty good area is going to range from upper to high 200k and even more-- like 300k+, so good luck!
I think not...let me just say this...if you want to purchase a old beat up home in ghetto, and I mean violent gang infested terrority in LA, you would not find a crappy crack house for $175K...so get the idea?

In way northern California you could probably find something in one of the smaller communities. It's going to be a small house if you want brand new and under $175,000.
