Blessing a new house?

Hi all,

I just moved into a new house and was wondering if someone can give their views regarding this...

Im not generally a very religious person, but do believe there is a God out there and do pray to God from time to time. Recently i have been told by a few freinds and relatives that I should get my new house blessed? ie get a priest to bless the house.

This is my first house so i dont know what this entails. Has anyone got their new house blessed before. Regardless of what religion you belong too, i would like to know your views and the different ways i can fullfil this ritual or duty.

Thanks in Advance.Blessing a new house?
I beleive that would be a complete waste of your time. Have a moving in party, have fun. Don't get some old fool with no logical mind to come and recite out of a fictional book. I mean really, wil the house become any better because some guy came in and spoke garbage for a while? No. A better use of your time would be to make friends with your new neighbours.

Times change. In my opinion, religion has served its purpose and should now give way to science. As you will know by now, this is a totally non-religious viewpoint.

(And please, any overly-sensitive actively-religious people, don't just give a thumbs down to answers that are not your views. Try being open minded.)Blessing a new house?
Well, here is how the Catholics do it

Each religion has different ways. I like the one our pueblo indians use, it's really symbolic.

Good luck
All you have to do is enter House Blessing in Google and you will get a zillion ways to do it yourself, have a ceremony, etc.

There is a house blessing for every belief. Some are simple, some are elaborate.

I personally feel that it is a very nice tradition, and I had my house blessed.
It's not a very common practice these days. I do know people who have had it done because something in the house felt a bit off. Like there were rooms that felt strange or unhappy.

I always recommend opening all of the windows and doors and walking through the whole house with a smudge stick to get rid of the residual energies from the past owners.
If you're not particularly religious (to use your own words) forget about it. If you ';believe in God'; you can always pray to God to bless your home. I doubt it requires a member of the clergy.
If you believe that a God might be out there, it is your choice on whether to get it blessed or not.

Not many people get their house blessed these days, though. My mother is a faithful Christian and she has never had our house blessed.

It's whatever you wanna do.
your friends are quacks, wile yur at it why dont u send ur kids to a catholic priest's house for a sunday bbq....and nevermind there limping tfor the next week or so
